For whom: The course is built for persons who model, write descriptions or take part in modelling the different dimensions of enterprise architecture (EA) in their own setting. On this course, you will get an efficient start to your EA function. Also introduces the Finnish JHS179-standard, but is suitable also for the private sector
Prerequisites: No prerequisites. You can take the ‘Kick starting your EA’ course before or after.
Learning goals: After the course, you will know what kind of models exist in different frameworks, and be able to create the most essential ones. You will be aware of the main pitfalls and challenges of modeling.
Course description: When examining the various descriptions in various architectural frameworks (JHS 179, Kartturi, TOGAF) one is easily struck by a sense of despair: are there really so many things that need to be modeled?! Are all those descriptions strictly necessary? Successful EA modeling requires knowledge of what your organisation really needs, and focusing on the relevant, instead of the irrelevant. On this course, we will briefly go through the key aspects of kick-starting and taking control of your EA, create with exercises the most significant descriptions needed in architecture and have a look into the different approaches to information architecture. During the training we also introduce the new version of the Finnish JHS 179 recommendation
This course will help you tackle challenges and point out the worst pitfalls, in order to make your modeling up to par. On this course we do practical exercises, that have roots in real situations.
